Checking insurance repair work against its scope
Comparing finished repairs with the insurer's scope of works, item by item.
In short: When an insurer pays for repairs, the scope of works says what should be done. We compare that with what was actually done.
Why it is needed
Insurance repairs are often carried out by several trades over weeks. Items can be missed or left half finished without anyone noticing until the job is signed off.
What we recorded
On a Pakenham repair job the vanity had been put back without sealing at the splashback and basin, and wall tiles removed for the work had not been reinstated.
How we approach it
We take the scope of works line by line, find each item in the house and record whether it was done, done poorly or not done.
What you get
A report you can send to the insurer and the repairer showing exactly what is outstanding.
When to book
Before you sign the completion or satisfaction form for the repair.
