Kitchens, bathrooms and toilets under the rental standards
Worn tapware, missing sealant and damaged toilets in a Pakenham home ahead of letting.
In short: Three of the standards cover the rooms with water in them. Small faults there are among the most common reasons a house is not ready to list.
Bathrooms
There must be a washbasin and a shower or bath with hot and cold water, in good working order. Worn tapware and screens without proper sealing need attention.
Toilets
A working toilet in a room intended for it. Damage to the pan or seat should be repaired.
Kitchen
A food preparation area, a sink with hot and cold water and a cooktop with at least two burners. A sink without sealant to the benchtop lets water into the cabinet.
What we recorded
In an established Pakenham home: shower tapware due for service, a screen joint needing sealant, a damaged toilet and an unsealed sink edge.
Before the listing
A plumber and a handyman can usually clear these in a day.
